We are Laura and Sue, founders of Cunliffe & Fu. Two northern kindred spirits who collided at a London jewellery school and soon realised we had the same passion in bringing bespoke handmade jewellery to life.
We’d like to share a little more about our passions and what inspires us……
Laura | With my northern roots I’ve always been inspired by nature, symbolism, modern art and photography. From a young age I have been intrigued by how jewellery has evolved over time, telling it’s own unique story. It makes it’s own statement in the world influenced by cultures, moments in history and iconic art movements throughout time. As a child my passion started with a dress up box and evolved into combining antique jewellery with quirky outfits to add intrigue, beauty and glamour..
Sue | From a young age I have been fascinated(border-line obsessed) by jewellery - the form, the movement, the shine and structure. Growing up in a small northern town it offered escapism. It could transform you and transport you to other cultures, eras, even other worlds. Even today I choose my pieces for the day based on what I want to project; style, majesty, energy or fun. As my passion developed, off the shelf jewellery wasn’t enough. I was always making tweaks and additions to pieces till I was satisfied that I embodied the style of my screen idols - Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn and Ava Gardner.
